PAT Testing
The 'Electricity at Work Regulations Acts' requires all companies and public bodies including all landlords and freeholders to be responsible for electrical safety in the work place. Portable Appliance Testing is the best way to fully conform to this legislation. A PAT Test or Portable Appliance Test is a visual and electrical test which is conducted on an electrical appliance which is classed as 'portable'. PAT Tests are conducted using a PAT Testing Device.

Portable Appliance Testing is essential in maintaining a safe working environment. Over 82% of all fires in the workplace are caused by faulty portable appliances. It is proven that appliances which are tested regularly are less likely to cause any risk or hazard to their users.

The test comprises of three parts which must be completed before the appliance can be deemed electrically safe.

Assessment - our engineer will carry out an assessment into the overall wiring of the area to ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained and so that the equipment is safe to test. All assessments are conducted in line with the IET’s code of Conduct for in-service electrical testing.

Inspection - the engineer will begin a visual and electrical inspection of any and all items to be inspected.

Documentation - our engineer will certify the result of the test and record the outcome. A pass or fail certificate will be issued and this documented in the asset register which will be passed on to the customer upon completion of the testing.
